Trujillo is the third city of the country, with a little more than 700.000 inhabitants, recognized as The City of the

Founded on 1534, Trujillo was one of the main cities of the Virreinato. Its historical center lodges numerous

Huanchaco and the Trujillo are located in the nucleus of a millenarian and complex cultural development
of the Mochica and Chimu societies that successively occupied the northern coast of the country. Theirs
cultural inheritance is deeply noticeable in the present populations, and the archaeological patrimony in
the numerous and surprising archaeological sites.
Chan Chan, the greatest mud city of the American antiquity is located between Huanchaco and Trujillo.
It was the capital city of the Chimu Empire, from approximately aims of century XI. From 1986 is
declared World Heritage (UNESCO) .
To the east of Trujillo, about 10 min., the pyramids Huacas of the Sun and the Moon raise imposingly.
These constituted the power center of the magnificent Mochica civilization, between centuries I and IX
a. C.
To less than one hour to the north is located the Brujo Complex , a huge Mochica pyramid that lodges
the magnificent tomb of La Senora de Cao. Some more kilometers to the north are located the tomb
and the Museum of The Lord of Sipan.
